Best Dressed Celebrities On Red Carpet

Publish date: 2024-06-08

One of the biggest nights in the fashion industry’s calendar, The Fashion Awards 2022, witnessed some of the world’s most stylish people descending the red carpet at London’s Royal Albert Hall on December 5. And what a spectacle it was, as everyone remained glued to the red carpet to note the year’s biggest fashion finale, which brought joy through the lingering chaos.

As New York has the Met Gala, and couture fashion weeks span from Paris to Milan, the buoyant and cosmopolitan city of London boasts one of the most sprightly stylish evenings in the global fashion calendar — the Fashion Awards — to laud the brightest talents and the most brilliant designers and the work they’ve done over the past 12 months.

Anyone working in the British fashion industry, plus a cohort of celebrities and design talent from around the world, from fashion moguls to debutants, eagerly awaits this event all year long to commemorate the creativity and confidence of both elites and risers.

Conceptualised by the British Fashion Council (BFC), the star-studded fundraising event is not just glitz and glam, but a primary supporter for the nurturing, designer-supporting BFC Foundation, which supports the future growth and success of the British fashion industry by focusing on education, grant-giving, and business mentoring and growing the diversity pool.

The Fashion Awards ceremony hosts the most wildly opulent display of fashion designs, hosted by a luminary in the art and design space and gives both stalwart and up-and-coming talent the recognition they deserve. This year, it eminences the likes of Loewe’s Jonathan Anderson, Bottega Veneta’s Matthieu Blazy and Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli.

Aside from that, the designers’ muses walking the red carpet serve up half the fun. None other than British and Jamaican activist and actor Jodie Turner-Smith hosted this year’s awards ceremony, and wore many epic looks throughout the night, starting with this glorious lime-green gown by Gucci to an electrifying blue catsuit topped with a puffer jacket.

The event witnessed fashion magnates from the likes of Florence Pugh, Naomi Campbell, Elizabeth Debicki, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Tilda Swinton, Harris Reed, Sabrina Carpenter, Christine Quinn, Lila Moss, Paloma Elsesser, Shay Mitchell, Lily James, Jourdan Dunn and a plethora of VIPs, industry insiders and key fashion industry players including British Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful and Munroe Bergdorf in attendance, strutting down the red carpet.

2022 has been a major year for vintage and fashion rentals, so there’s no surprise that archival looks also made their way onto the 2022 Fashion Awards red carpet at the Royal Albert Hall.

As another popular trend continuing in 2023, sequins, sweeping long trains and risque nude ensembles were big on this year’s red carpet event in the zombie-white, callous winter season, championed by the likes of Adut Akech, Kristen McMenamy, Jourdan Dunn, and Lila Moss.

We also spotted several eco-conscious, sustainable fashion and up-cycled outfits on the red carpet, which is an excellent approach to adapt to mitigate the alarming climate change.

A long-term wearer of the brand, Pugh presented Pierpaolo Piccioli with the “Designer of the Year” award for Valentino. Wales Bonner won “Independent British Brand” while S.S. Daley took home the “BFC Foundation Award” and Bella Hadid snagged “Model of the Year.”

In case you missed it, here’s the full list of the winners and nominees of the 2022 Fashion Awards and some glorious highlights!

Renowned British MUA & beauty mogul Charlotte Tilbury took the charge of celebrating the most magical time and all things confidence, joy and creativity at the 2022 Fashion Awards with a bevvy of beauties. From Harris Reed to Sabrina Carpenter to Poppy Delevingne and Han So-Hee, Sofia Tilbury, with the aid of their pro crew, created an array of distinguished red carpet looks for the evening using the inner beauty secrets of the beauty magnate.

From Florence Pugh in scarlet red Valentino to Jodie Turner-Smith in glorious lime green Gucci to Lily James in an illustrious princess-like white Rodarte gown, CelebMix brings you the best-dressed celebrities from the Fashion Awards 2022 red carpet and delightful moments from a very fashionable evening.

Jodie Turner-Smith

The evening’s host, Jodie Turner-Smith, flaunted not just one or two looks for fashion’s big night in London. She didn’t even wear three or four but made a style splash in six epic outfits throughout the night and into the afterparty. All the looks were unique, and fitting and made her stand out from the crowd as she took to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall to laud fashion’s biggest elites.

Turner-Smith strutted down the red carpet at The Fashion Awards 2022 in a glorious and flowy lime-green sheer Gucci gown with frilled edges, a plunging neckline and sequins details paired with gleaming Chopard diamonds. Next came a dramatic, one-shouldered ruffled Robert Wun gown in a bright white shade, complementing her icy white hair colour. The pristine dress featured a tight bodice from her neck to her ankles with an oversize ruffle of detail framing her back, looking as exquisite as ever.

Turner-Smith kicked up the glamour in a white floor-length long-sleeved dress with cut-out detailing at the midriff, rocking the event. She later donned a blue Richard Quinn look comprising a glimmering cape-styled royal blue sequined catsuit, heels and matching gloves and topped it with a billowing coat in a matching shade, keeping it off her shoulders.

Joy Crookes

H&M debuted the forthcoming Innovation Metaverse Design Story collection at the Fashion Awards, with Joy Crookes wearing a signature collection look. Joy Crookes arrived at The Fashion Awards 2022 red carpet at Royal Albert Hall on December 5, donning a brown H&M bodysuit in 87% recycled polyester, paired with a blazer and trouser set made with 33% organic silk and 67% Naia™? Renew cellulosic yarn.

Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell mirrored like a disco ball in a metallic silver pleated Valentino gown, which featured a matching attached cape radiating the red carpet.

Florence Pugh

Valentino painted the town red this evening as actress Florence Pugh stunned everyone in a strappy, backless scarlet red Valentino gown, styled by Rebecca Corbin-Murray, that featured a full, voluminous skirt, which fell into a dramatically long train behind her sweeping the red carpet. Pugh kept her overall look simple yet effective with nude glam makeup, plum lipstick and flicked-out hair, with Tiffany & Co jewellery.

Ashley Graham

Ashley Graham wore a thigh-high-slit, sheer blue “The Von Fersen” printed gown by Patrick McDowell dress from their latest sustainable collection, with a matching overcoat made using Tencel Luxe, a silk alternative, along with Jimmy Choo sandals, styled by Emily Evans.

Sheila Atim

Sheila Atim left everyone in awe as she snagged a Prada look fresh off the SS23 runway. She wore a double satin top and skirt, paired with silver sandals and a crystal clutch – all by Prada.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley channelled the ‘chic’ as she donned an all-black leather Valentino ensemble exhibiting her delicate waist in the metallic leather top, paired with Valentino Silk Cady Maxi Skirt, Valentino Loca, and a slick, neat mid-parting hair bun.

Jourdan Dunn

Jourdan Dunn wore a Stephane Rolland outfit, exposing her cleavage in a really risqué nude bodysuit featuring black tattoo prints on the bodice to cover her modesty along with a turtleneck and paired it with an oversized black maxi skirt. According to British Vogue, Jourdan Dunn’s stylist Justin Hamilton has been planning her Fashion Awards 2022 look for months, and defined it as “An alien goddess, witch nymph.”

And it wasn’t until the final few days before the ceremony that the pair decided on which dress they preferred out of two potential Stephane Rolland looks. We loved the dramatic and mysterious vibe Jourdan’s outfit created, as the sheer tattoo embroidery on the bodice and the draped black skirt was the perfect contrast to the siren-red floral Andrea Brocca corset dress she wore last year, combined with Jourdan’s confidence and the character vibe which her actress-self brings to any outfit she carries and makes it her own.

Adut Akech

The South Sudanese-Australian supermodel Adut Akech “couldn’t say no” when London-based fashion designer Nensi Dojaka offered her their first-ever collaboration to make her a custom look for the Fashion Awards 2022. The model wore a white gown by the designer of the moment, featuring new techniques Nensi has explored in recent collections. Rather than going down a conventional red-carpet route, she opted for a tulle-led corset with sequins and a chiffon skirt with an elongated train. This might be her first collaborative project with the designer, but it likely won’t be her last: “It’s rare you can see yourself in an entire collection,” says Akech to British Vogue.

Adut Akech paired her gorgeous white gown with a striking make-up look by Esther Edeme and a high ponytail by Jemima Boateng along with Amina Muaddi heels and shimmering Tasaki jewellery – including a necklace, hoops and stud earrings and a patchwork puffer Moncler coat.

Simone Ashley

Simone Ashley stunned everyone on the British Fashion Awards 2022 red carpet as she swaggered down in a body-hugging, sheer purple diamond dress by 16Arlington, turning heads. This lustre hooded, 16Arlington see-through outfit twinkled under the lights, which the actor paired with a matching veil, Chopard jewellery, perspex shoes and wet-look hair.

Dixie D’Amelio

Dixie D’Amelio puts on a striking cleavage display in a plunging Maison Valentino white gown with a stringy neckline on the British Fashion Awards 2022 red carpet. The viral TikTok sensation kept the accessories minimal and opted for Charlotte Tilbury’s gorgeous makeup look comprising sparkling smokey eye and peachy-nude lip combo using the NEW! Hypnotising Pop Shots and NEW! Nude Talk holiday lipstick, and supercharged with Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray.

Irina Shayk

H&M debuted the upcoming Innovation Metaverse Design Story collection at the Fashion Awards, with Irina Shayk wearing a brown bustier dress, and making a very convincing case for “no heels on the red carpet,” teaming her all-brown recycled and eco-conscious sequin H&M gown with matching suede pumps. Part of the brand’s new Metaverse collection, the dress is also available to rent from the retailer’s flagship store on London’s Regent Street from £40.

Suki Waterhouse

Suki Waterhouse caught the eye in another disco-ball-themed head-to-toe shimmering silver sequined Alexandre Vauthier couture gown from Alexandre Vauthier’s Fall-Winter 22 collection, as she flaunted her slender, hourglass figure in a semi-sheer dress and brought the drama to the red carpet. The dress featured a tunic-like robe in the front, with the skirt embellished with endless sequins with an asymmetrical hem and flower-like details. It tied together the ensemble at the waist with a pair of heels to match the outfit.

Han So-Hee

The K-Drama star Han So-Hee went viral on the internet with her appearance at the British Fashion Awards 2022 earlier this week, as she posed with other Charlotte Tilbury babes with the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, Harris Reed, Poppy Delevingne and more, and stole the spotlight in her green, eye-catching, see-through outfit, giving a little peek-a-book illusion, which stirred a buzz among K-netizens. She coupled the gorgeous green with LUCKY Walk of No Shame + Red Wishes lipsticks for a kissable cherry-rose pout, and the forthcoming Hollywood Glow Glide Face Architect Highlighter in Moonlit Glow that illuminated her skin under the moonlight.

Lily James

Lily James opted for a fairy-tale-worthy wedding-ready white Rodarte gown from the Fall 2022 looks, with glittering silver embellishments and a tulle mermaid hem, looking mesmerising. She paired her outfit on the red carpet with Charlotte Olympia’s Cinderella-themed “If the Shoe Fits” platform heels, and Boucheron’s Goutte de Cristal Earrings and Lierre de Paris Ring, with a unique bow-styled knot-bun.

Lila Moss

The young model nailed the ‘naked dressing’ trend in a sheer black gown by KNWLS with a sweeping train, paired with black lingerie underneath, keeping the rest of her look simple and tidy.

Tilda Swinton

Tilda Swinton continued to bring dramatic outfits on the red carpet and the British Fashion Awards 2022 was no exception. This year, the actor wore a Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY dress, which is a collaboration between Swinton and Charles Jeffrey at the British Fashion Awards 2022. The ensemble comprises the ‘All the Worlds a Stage’ gown and ‘Dead End’ coat, snooping a glimpse into the A/W ’23 Collection entitled “Engine Room.” The collection is an ode to one of Scotland’s most prolific artists, John Patrick Byrne, and the graphics find inspiration from two of its most iconic namesake artworks of Byrne.

Francesca Hayward

The Royal Ballet Principal Dancer attended the British Fashion Awards 2022 donning a vintage YSL black sequin and tulle dress, paired with Cartier diamond jewellery.

Leomie Anderson

Leomie Anderson wore a one-shoulder ruffled purple mini dress from the H&M Innovation Metaverse Design Story collection, inspired by a flower in bloom and made by 100% recycled polyester from garment and textile waste. Anderson paired the outfit with metallic heeled sandals with 100% recycled polyester straps embellished with recycled acrylic beads.

Ellie Bamber

The Serpent actor Ellie Bamber posed on the steps leading up to the Royal Albert Hall red carpet at the Fashion Awards 2022 wearing an elegant Vivienne Westwood ivory-hued two-piece, comprising a pearl embellished cropped corset top and a long floor-sweeping satin silky skirt, as she flaunts her toned midriff, and accessorised it off with a chunky gold ear cuff.

Erin O’Connor

The supermodel wore a dramatically thinly veiled Erdem look which might be difficult for her to savour a burger or take a trip to the bathroom, but she’s a pro while looking dreamy and exquisite on the red carpet. She looked truly an epitome of gothic glamour in her tulle black-and-white Erdem look.

Sabrina Carpenter

The songstress wore a hooded gown by Alberta Ferretti and for makeup she opted for fierce feline flick makeup by Charlotte Tilbury, looking more unique than her previous red-carpet looks this year. She rocked a razor-sharp eye wing and sculpted contour with pouty lips.

Yasmin Finney

What an amazing evening for the 2022 Independent British designer of the year, Yasmin Finney, as she celebrated her spectacular win at the Fashion Awards 2022. Finney opted for sustainability as she donned and rocked a gorgeous and up-cycled all-black sculptural gown featuring dramatic sculptural shoulders by rising British designer and fellow guest of the evening, Harris Reed.

Maya Jama

Maya Jama turned heads with her stylish appearance as she stunned in a chic, all-black Sabina Bilenko Couture look with Messika jewellery and Malone Souliers heels, styled by ELLE UK’s Fashion and Accessories Editor Georgia Medley.

Harris Reed

Designer Harris Reed nailed red carpet dressing in a dramatic off-the-shoulder gown from Nina Ricci’s archives and paired it with Charlotte Tilbury makeup, celebrating his massive win becoming “Leader of Change” at the 2022 Fashion Awards for his fierce energy, creativity and phenomenal contribution to the British fashion industry, served in proper style, purpose and passion. He wore a billowing archival Nina Ricci gown with 22-inch platform boots with a full face of Charlotte Tilbury makeup and hair done.

Iris Law

Vintage obsessive model Iris Law wore a very “huggable-looking” archival COMME des GARÇONS ensemble, featuring three-dimensional hands from autumn/winter 2007, and paired it with Jimmy Choo heels.

Winnie Harlow

Canadian model Winnie Harlow stunned everyone in the Magnum Vegan Dress designed by Iris van Herpen on the 2022 British Fashion Awards red carpet as she puts on a daring display in a barely there minidress covered with cutouts across her chest, arms, and stomach, and goes down till legs, just in the right places.

Grace Elizabeth

Model Grace Elizabeth cuts an elegant figure in a stunning, bridal-worthy all-white gown with a bedazzling glorious choker by Graff on the Fashion Awards 2022 red carpet.

Munroe Bergdorf

Munroe Bergdorf enjoyed her ice princess moment as she wore a show-stopping Tony Ward Couture electrifying blue creation on the red carpet.
