Bruce Garfield Named Exec Director Of Columbus Music Commission
COLUMBUS, Ohio (CelebrityAccess) Bruce Garfield, longtime A&R exec who worked with Bob Seger, Steve Miller, Iron Maiden, Duran Duran, and Natalie Cole and manager for Grace Jones, Isaac Hayes, Dave Mason, and WAR, has been named Executive Director of the Columbus Music Commission in Columbus, Ohio.
The city initiative was launched in 2017 following the success of hometown heroes Twenty One Pilots to build connections between elements in the city’s music scene, increase educational and professional opportunities for musicians, attract audiences to live music events, and to support Columbus’s music business infrastructure. Garfield is already lecturing and conducting discussions groups with students at universities, public schools, community programs and members of the music community as part of the commission’s educational outreach program.
Garfield is bringing music-business leaders like A2IM CEO Richard Burgess to the city for an April 8 keynote of the “Music Business Mondays series of educational discussion forums.
Forums will be held on the second Monday of every month at Columbus’ Gateway Film Center.
Future speakers from Atlantic Records, Sony/ATV, Universal Music, Warner Music, Spotify, Paradigm and others will be announced shortly.
