(CelebrityAccess News Service) — Comedian Barry Martin, who opened for fellow comedian Rodney Carrington November 7 at the Saenger Theatre in Mobile, AL, died in his sleep of an apparent heart attack two days later in Baton Rouge, LA, where the two performed. He was 54.
According to Don Moreau of the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office, Martin reportedly had complained of weakness and flu-like symptoms before going to bed, the Mobile Register reports.
"Barry was my best friend," Carrington said in a statement. "There are not enough words or space to describe how I felt about him. I'll miss him deeply."
