Kane Brown broke down honoring his good friend and later drummer, Kenny Dixon at CMT Artists of the Year event on Wednesday night.

‘One Right Thing’ singer’s pain could be felt by everyone in attendance as he accepted an award. Brown became so emotional during his speech, he could not stop crying.

“Thank you all so much. I want to dedicate this to our drummer Kenny. He started with me coming out of Chattanooga off Facebook. People didn’t think we would make it. He was with me the whole time. He was so supportive of me. I love you man, I miss you. The band misses you,” Brown shared onstage at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

It has only been a couple of days since Dixon died in a tragic car accident. The 27-year-old drummer passed away last Saturday.

“It is with profound sadness and disbelief that we confirm we lost our drummer Kenny this weekend in a tragic car accident. Kenny was a member of our family from the very beginning, and our hearts are with his fiancée Sarah, his son and everyone who knew and loved him. He was truly one of the greatest and kindest people on and off stage we’ve ever known,” a rep for Brown released to Variety.

Fox17 in Nashville said the drummer was involved in a single-car crash. Although it was confirmed neither drugs nor alcohol played a part in the accident, the Tennessee Highway Patrol believe speed played a factor.

Dixson was set to wed his fiancé Sarah Hendrick on November 30th. The couple shares one young son, Levi.

Country singer Chris Young dedicated his touching performance of “Drowning’ to Dixon at CMT Artists of the Year too. The song was written by Young after he sadly lost one of his own friends to a car accident earlier this year. Young was also full of emotion performing the tune at the event.
