Ole Miss at Georgia line, prediction, odds: Top-10 showdown in SEC could shift CFP top 4

The Athletic has live coverage of Georgia vs. Ole Miss

An SEC battle between two of the conference’s top contenders is upon us when undefeated Georgia welcomes Ole Miss into its home in a meeting of top-10 teams. The Rebels enter as huge underdogs.

Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs are eyeing their 25th consecutive home win. The bigger picture, of course, is remaining in control of their own destiny to the College Football Playoff. The prospect of a third-straight national championship becomes increasingly more realistic. Georgia will seal up the SEC East with a victory.

Star tight end Brock Bowers is still out due to injury, but wide receiver Ladd McConkey is starting to step up. In the last two games against Florida and Missouri, McConkey has combined for 13 catches for 230 receiving yards.

Georgia can afford one loss and stay in the hunt for one of the College Football Playoff’s four spots, but the pressure is on Ole Miss to win out. On Saturday, the Rebels will have to do what no team has done in more than four years: walk out of Sanford Stadium with a road victory.

In order to do so, the Rebels’ offense must stand out in a positive way versus arguably the SEC’s toughest defense. Starting quarterback Jaxson Dart passed for 387 yards and two touchdowns last week against Texas A&M, which was his first game crossing 250 passing yards in four games.

Standout running back Quinshon Judkins going up against the Bulldogs’ run defense will be an interesting watch. Last week, Missouri’s Cody Schrader became the first 100-yard rusher against Georgia this season. Judkins is on the heels of three consecutive 100-yard-rushing games (four in the last five) with six touchdowns in that span.

Ole Miss is 6-2-1 against the spread, while Georgia is just 3-6.
